Create Awesome Stories with Emotion: Sam Casey and Austin Ickes, the author and illustrator of the upcoming middle grade novel Jay the Magical Middle Schooler, teach kids how to express emotions in characters. In the first half of the class, Sam will briefly introduce how to express emotion through actions and body language, and students will write a piece of flash fiction. After a five-minute break, Austin will teach the kids how to show emotions in drawing, and students will try those techniques. (Hint: It’s all about the eyebrows!) Kids will have time at the end of the class to share their work.
